Live performance of “The Gonzales Cantata”
You heard about it on MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show,” and Fox News, or read about it in the Wall Street Journal, now experience it for yourself! Melissa Dunphy’s “The Gonzales Cantata” is a gender-bending 40-minute choral work whose libretto comes directly from the 2007 Senate Judiciary Committee hearings in which disgraced former U.S. Attorney-General Alberto Gonzales famously said “I don’t recall” more than 71 times. This performance was recorded live in Philadelphia at the Rotunda on September 2, 2009.

The Death of Tango with Pablo (World)
Join Pablo for an in-studio performance featuring the Oscuro Quintet, as well as his weekly journey through the time capsule of tango music from the 20s to the present.
The Oscuro Quintet is an international group of 5 accomplished musicians of diverse disciplines pursuing their collective passion for tango and contemporary music. As Philadelphia’s first tango music ensemble, the quintet evokes the passion and the grace of tango from dance floors to concert halls with a mind toward both the music of the past and the vanguard of progression.

10/10/09 21:00:00 – 00:00:00
Idiot Control with Brian Eff (Rock)
Imagine a go-go boot stamping on a human face – forever. Now imagine it with a soundtrack of bowl-cutted sullen and snarling teenagers thrashing out two chords, supersaturated fuzz guitars, flailing four-armed drummers and sitar abuse. Some favorites from the past year, some stuff you’ve never heard – from beat to garage to heavy acid sounds.

10/11/09 00:00:00 – 03:00:00
Ill-Gotten Gains with Steve Gonzalez (Rock)
Ill-Gotten Gains will play your requests… and then talk about how much it sucked. Or just yell at you. For a donation of $103.3, Ill-Gotten Gains will give away a Manchester City soccer jersey.
