This Weekend: Tycho/Teen Daze/Korallreven

So you’ve spent the week hooked on our membership drive and are ready to unglue your ears from the radio for a night? WPRB has the perfect idea for how to spend your Sunday: catch Tycho tomorrow night at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Sounds awesome, right? Even more spectacularly, Teen Daze and Korallreven will also be playing sets, making this unquestionably a must-see show. [WPRB DJs will be checking it out too, if you needed any other reason to go. All the cool kids are doing it.]

TYCHO’s show will include a full live band and visuals, a.k.a. Ear and Eye Candy in one compact and mind-blowing package. Teen Daze will also be performing live, while Korallreven will be doing a DJ set.

Doors open at 8 and the show starts at 9. Tickets are $15. It’s an 18 & up show, so sorry to any of our younger listeners, but fret not–WPRB will be updating our site soon (ASAP post-show) with a concert review. For more details on the show, click here. To check out the artists, take a peek at their “hit singles” selected for you below, and also go click yourself over to their websites (Tycho, Teen Daze, Korallreven).

This Weekend: The Creators Project NY

(source)

The Creators Project, a joint collaboration between Intel and VICE, is coming to New York this Saturday and Sunday and throwing a two-day festival of art, music, film, and technology. While in the past, Creators Project events have been fairly exclusive, this weekend’s festival is completely free and open to the public, with access granted by an online RSVP and limited only by sheer space capacity. The Project expects around 20,000 visitors to show up each day of the festival, located in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood.

The line-up for this installment of the Creators Project is extensive and impressive, with artists such as Four Tet, Florence & The Machine, Justice, Nosaj Thing, Atlas Sound, Yuksek, Teen Daze, and more making musical appearances on Saturday. The festivities will continue into Sunday with film screenings, art installments, panels, and more, including a screening of Arcade Fire’s Scenes from the Suburbs collaboration with Spike Jonze and the debut of the psycho-opera “Stop the Virgens” from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O.

For more information, check out the Creators Project’s own page about the event. The event has already reached full capacity and all available RSVPs have been doled out, but if you didn’t get the chance to sign up, never fear!! WPRB representatives will be taking part in the events tomorrow and reporting back to all of us soon.

In the mean time, don’t forget to DONATE to WPRB’s annual membership drive! You’ve still got a few precious hours/days to do so — most notably during LAUREN’S CORNER with LAUREN from 9 to 10 pm EST, coming on right after our annual STATE OF THE STATION address at 8. you won’t wanna miss it. Of course you don’t have to call in to pledge — you can do so on our super convenient pledge drive website; if you’re listening to us on our online stream, this totally… streamlines… the process.

Bernard Wöstheinrich – Live on Music With Space Friday @ 12am

Bernard Wöstheinrich

Bernard Wöstheinrich

Bernhard started in about 1987 to intensely experiment with his own soundsand tunes after he found out that drawing and painting simply weren’t enoughto adequately express himself. He went about to find something that mighthad a more “performing” approach. Inspired by the likes of Einstürzende Neubauten and other informal and experimental music, he finally began towork in a very personal way to compose and record some early tapes.

Bernhard leads his own solo project “The Redundant Rocker” and his maincollaborator is Markus Reuter (in CENTROZOON). He has also worked with IanBoddy, Klaus Hoffmann-Hoock, No-Man singer Tim Bowness, Conrad Schnitzler, and Synapscape’s Philipp Münch. He has released music on a variety of labelssuch as DiN, Burning Shed, Tonefloat, Unsung Records, and continues to push at the boundaries of rock, electronica, and the avant-garde.

Bernhard elicits meaning from abstraction in electronic music and painting. He has studied graphic design and has created an eclectic body of work inboth graphics and music. Using a compositional approach akin to his work asa visual artist, Bernhard usually begins by improvising abstract sonic structures which are subsequently developed into an increasingly detailed aural picture.
