Listen to 103.3 fm WPRB on Wednesday, August 25th at 8:00 pm ET as Jon Solomon interviews author Tony Rettman about his new book “Why Be Something That You’re Not: Detroit Hardcore 1979-85.”
This oral history of Michigan punk rock focuses on forgotten and overlooked bands like The Fix, Necros, Blight, Negative Approach, The Meatmen and other bands who, in the words of Tesco Vee, left a “skid mark on the underpants of punk.”
Rettman and Solomon will also intersplice rare recordings from many of these acts during their discussion.
While you’re waiting for this program to broadcast, watch two public access TV videos from the show “Why Be Something That You’re Not” featuring Negative Approach. Crazy.
