WPRB News: Immigration in New Jersey

John Nasir is a Kashimiri immigrant who came to the United States to attend Christian missionary school and was unexpectedly detained.  That was two years ago.  Now he’s stuck in New Jersey but has become the beneficiary of a new program in Princeton spearheaded by the Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund (LALDEF) to provide undocumented immigrants with nongovernmental identification cards.  While the LALDEF argues that the cards are essential, the program has its detractors, such as the New Jersey Citizens for Immigration Control (NJCIC).

Neha Uberoi and Rafael Grillo bring you the story in four parts.

WPRB News: Premiere

In light of the recent death of Rutgers’ Freshman Tyler Clementi, Aku Ammah-Tagoe and Shikha Uberoi sat down with licensed clinical social worker Shari Kaplan, the creator of a show called “Make it Happen” that helps harassed and bullied teenagers recover, to talk about bullying.

This month in Afghanistan, the foreign troop death toll climbed closer to 600, making it the deadliest year to date, and just yesterday a NATO soldier was killed in southern Afghanistan. Jackie Cremos and Anthony Paranzino talked to Wesley Morgan, a young journalist with firsthand experience in Iraq and Afghanistan to gain some insight. Morgan is still a college student, now entering his senior year at Princeton University.
