Fed-Murray Breakdown

Hey All,

So this is my inaugural post on this website. I’ll be contributing more detailed posts in the future, but for now I just want to submit a quick breakdown of what’s gonna go down in the Aussie Open Final (happening now!).

Let me preface this by saying that I’m a huge Fed fan, and have been for years. However, I don’t want that to bias me in my analysis. While I’ll be rooting for Fed the whole way, my gut tells me it’s going to be Murray in 4. Why?

Some major reasons: Murray’s backhand and return of serve are incredible, Murray is hungry, he’s fit, he’s prepared, and he’s got his nerves under control. Plus Rafa said Murray has a great chance to win, and Rafa knows what he’s talking about.

Talk about Fed’s accomplishments all you want (and believe me, I can recite them with anybody), but this match is going to come down to a motivated, young, talented Murray playing a great match and taking it to a talented but less motivated and older Fed. Should be a great match.

Welcome Dave! Being a Fed fan myself I’ve got to admit I’m a little happy to see our boy prove you wrong. It’s nice to be wrong when you have something to celebrate isn’t it? Every time I want to doubt Fed he plays stronger than ever, he’s a great champion. However, I can’t help but feel bad for Murray because it wasn’t like he played terribly, in fact it was quite the opposite, Fed was just too good. Anyways thanks for posting about Tennis, one of my favorite sports, its nice to have you around.

Hey Spencer, thanks for welcoming me to the community! I’ve got to admit, I was pleasantly surprised by Fed. All in all, I think Murray didn’t play his best and Fed was just on. However, Murray has exactly the kind of game – counterpunching and rock solid – and attributes – young, fit, and stubborn – to beat Federer and most other players. It’s just a matter of time for his first major. With that said, looking forward to seeing Fed continue to dominate!

I couldn’t agree more about the Murray analysis, the guy has all the tools he needs to be great. If I am honest , as much as I love Fed I wouldn’t mind watching the younger group of players close the gap this year and make all the finals more like the last couple of finals at Wimbledon. I hope Murray doesn’t get to frustrated with his performance, the way he’s playing right now he will definitely get another chance.
